CHAPTER 4
My top 5 favorite Churches in America
1. Lifepoint Church in Wilmington, NC – It would be easy to suggest, I picked this Church as it is the one we attend. Truth be told, that is partly true but more than this few churches have better Leaders from Top to Bottom! The preaching, the Music, the kids programs, the prayer meetings at 6:30am on Wednesday, the Small Groups and the missions, and many mission trips are people go on are just second to none! If you are in the area – let’s go to Church!
2 Family Fellowship Church (FFG) of Greenville, Texas:
Wha a great church that we fell in love with, our kids fell in love with and we served at for a number of years. We saw the Church grow, the people grow and so much more! Pastor Paul Blue wrote the forward in my first book “Why Leaders Fall”. The Blues were more than great Pastors, they were and still are great friends. I will say we have seen the Church and its dear people go through so much. Death and so much more. Pastor had grace through all of this. He led with Grace and Mercy like seen few do. Today, so many people left the church and came back. Family fellow ship is still a strong day! FFG is The smallest church I will talk about in this chapter, but you have to remember, it runs well over 1,000 and the town has 200,000 less people that the next smallest city. I have said, they are in our top five favorite Churches and we have been a part of some great ones.
1. National Community Church (NCC) in Washington, DC. Multi bEleook (27) author and a tremendous man of God, Mark Batterson Senior Pastor! I/We lived in DC about three years. We got connected and I actually served at this great Church. I have to say, we have never seen anything like NCC! What they have done in a very challenging area is being talked about in Heaven, I am sure. I will list just a little below:
a. The old crack house right near Central Railway Station and the National Capital! We Prayed hard and God delivered. It is not a Crack House now. It is likely the busiest Coffee (Opened in 2006) House in DC and the Basement is NCC’s Church for the un-homed! Ebenezer Coffee House, I just stop there, but that is just the begging.
b. The Dream Center, Red and Yellow, Black and White we are all special in his sight and that is so true here! Nothing like this where I have been.
c. Multi location parts of NCC it helps in DC and Northern VA.
d. Every Easter, NCC meets at about 6:30am for Easter Sunrise Service and about 10,000 attend!
e. We get calls to support the police, like when we sent out hundreds of men to help with the start of high school! A Yearly thing. Check out the location I was able to serve at for a while. About a mile from Apartment! I would walk in the snow to do my duty, that is what we did! Look for Gold in picture.
2. Elevation Church – Multiple Campuses, we were apart of Charlotte Campuses for about 7 years. Like NCC, it is almost hard to put on Paper what Elevation has done for the community, the region, the US and the world. We were pretty involved like when we baptized 700 at one location in one day, and like Love week where 1,000’s of people donate time and money to the community, this has been a game changer in so many ways. When we were in DC we were able to see the worship team at the arena and witnessed more than 10,000 worship God, with so many getting save. We were apart of several small groups and I have to say Pastor Steve and Pastor Holly Furtick can preach with the best, what a honor to work with, worship with and be with such great people!
Casas Church, Ora Valley, AZ
Casas Church was not your typical church! We had three year there that were really good, where else can you go to church when it is about 105 Degrees and have huge windows that spend up the Mountains that surrounded the church. 9 months out of the year, you can enjoy the view while you have lunch after church in there courtyard! It was great and the people were so amazing, just special!
I could have mention so many other Churches I/We visited, some in Different countries some close buy, but I want to share the top 5 where we served! I chould say so much more.
