CHAPTER 2
Business in Israel 5 times, I could have done it 50 times!!
Switching gears to my travel times to Israel – Indeed some of my favorite business travel.
I have been to Israel 5 times, most of the time without incident but not every time. I want to share the regions I have been to which is pretty much all of them. Business with a number of great companies and people, food so good it is hard to describe and breakfast so big it little hard to describe.
1. Ben Guran Gurion International Airport and Old Jerusalem – The Airport is amazing! The Security is beyond tight: The Airport is so big and has everything!! We always had special security and were able to go in back rooms where it is was private, food was spread, and we would walk to the main terminal through private doors and we are checked in. I have never been treated like royalty except there
Old Jerusalem – a must must-see if you’re in Israel, if you add visiting the Dead Sea and the must must-do events there – like washing your face in Mud! I recommend 😊 What is good to know going into the visit:
A. What you will see will take your breath away, no matter what your faith. Like the Wailing Wall.
B. Vendors are out and they are good to the point I wanted to scream because I can be a sucker for trinkets.
C. Make sure you take your time at some of the major locations you read in the Bible, walk the Roads and really understand not just the sights but the people. Yes, you have the Vendors and tuns of security but you also have people who still long for the coming Mesia. While I am a Christian and know the “Great Profit” and the celebrate is the Mesia – Jesus Christ – I Respect the people and know when to talk and when just to listen! Don’t forget much to be seen is just outside the Walls of the old Old City .. it is worth a stop.
D. I so value my time at in Jerusalem and would go again.
2. Tel Aviv – I have stayed at a couple of Hotels there, the Dan Panorama, and the Dad Tel Aviv where Elvis Presley and Presidents stayed at. My mom is mostly Jewish and Israel got wind of this, I got the best rooms, even better than my VP’s. My room had great views of the International Hotel and the Disco House that was bombed some years earlier. That hotel is also where I was introduced to Breakfast in Israel. The Buffet was incredible; the cost was about 16 Schelling’s, which is about $4 Dollars in the US. This buffet was over 100 feet long, but don’t worry, there is no cheese near the meat. Tel Aviv is one of my favorite non-US cities.
3. Haifa – A great coastal city but to be honest, where your country is about 30-40 miles. Haifa is a great city that is beautiful but very close to Lebanon up North and is subject to getting bombed as we learned. It is Israel’s largest Port and home to its primary shipyard (Israel Shipyard). I love the people there and try to stay in touch.
4. Played Golf at Caesarea Golf Club in Israel. Breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and wicked fast greens are what I remember and the very beautiful homes along the Golf Course. See pics of the actual course below.
5. Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. Rich biblical history and may I mention, Israel has three major highways all running North to South and South to North. Highways 2, 4 & 6 so choose carefully.
Now I would like to finish this chapter with other things in Israel I remember well:
1. You can get Cheese, but it should not be touching meet. Out of respect, I honored this ritual.
2. All kids’ male and female are drafted for a two-year stint in Military Service. Talking to young people They want to serve, honor their Country, and if they do so with Honor! University is paid for if they serve in the Military without issue, male and female there is nothing like we hear in the USA. It is clear if is Israel or very much kept in the closet!
3. The Disco Tech Bombed some years prior to our visit. It was still fresh, young people did not want to lose the place and knew they needed to remember the 70+ who died that night. Today it is a Disco and a Shrine, they have worked through it amazingly!
So much history on what seemed like every Coner! I could never get tired of my business and pleasure there.
You see many people kissing “the ground/Tarmac” in Israel. When you are in a country that is 30 miles wide and maybe two hours deep when driving, you learn to value the little things, that is for sure.
